What is Digital X-ray?
A digital X-ray is a new generation of X-ray that replaces the conventional X-ray film radiography by digital photographic film. It reduces the radiation exposure to the patient along with a reduction in the processing time. The captured image is digitally converted immediately and can be reviewed immediately.
Our centre uses state of the art high frequency x-ray machine from Allengers accompanied by industry standard CR system by Agfa.
By the use of digital X-rays, pathologies of the lungs, bones, renal calculi and soft tissue masses can be diagnosed with minimal radiation exposure.
The captured radiograph can be digitally enhanced for better diagnosis along with the ability to share the same with the patient and the doctor digitally via email or in CD/other storage devices which helps in immediate retrieval of data in the future.
By the use of digital radiography, we can obtain a better X-ray imaging with great efficiency immediately, giving less radiation to the patient and also avoid using harmful chemicals used in traditional radiography.
Preparation for a Digital X-ray?
Nothing in particular is required for routine x-rays like chest x-ray, abdomen X-ray, skull x-ray, extremities and joints x-ray.
Overnight fasting with bowel preparation is required for KUB and lumbar spine x-rays in order to obtain a good radiograph.
Patients are advised to remove jewellery, belts etc which may obscure the part to be examined.
Special instructions are given at the time of appointment for x-ray procedures like Barium studies, IVU (Intravenous Urogram), RGU (Retrograde Urethrogram), MCU (Micturating Urethrogram), HSG (Hysterosalpingography) etc.
Patients are always advised to bring previous radiographs and reports for comparison.
