What is a 2D Echo Test?
2D Echocardiography, also known as 2D Echo, is a non-intrusive examination used to assess the working and evaluate the areas of your heart. It makes pictures of the different parts of the heart utilizing sound vibrations and makes it simple to check for damages, blockages, and blood stream rate. It helps to detect the movements in the heart.
It is often paired with a heart stress test, which shows how your heart works during physical activity since it makes your heart pump faster and harder and reveals any problems, if any.
Why is a 2D Echo Test performed?
- To recognize strange heart rhythms like an expansion or reduction in the pulsating of the heart
- To check for genetic heart illness.
- To search for any damage to the heart after a heart attack.
- To check for irregularity of blood stream inside the heart.
- To search for heart mumbles.
How is the 2D Echo Test conducted?
To conduct a 2D Echo for heart, the chest area is kept bare and a dry gel is applied to investigate the sound vibrations with a transducer. The radiologist uses the transducer across the different areas of the chest. The gel assists in getting perspectives on the heart, its tissues, and constructions. After the test is conducted, the gel is wiped off.
The entire procedure takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes. Once the 2D echo test is complete, the images derived are used to analyse the results.
